Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
Tension gripped the CGO Complex area in Salt Lake on Thursday as a group of terminated school teachers attempted to meet Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials, demanding the mirror image of their OMR answer sheets. The teachers claim their removal was based on faulty assessments, and they deserve a fair review.
According to sources, the teachers arrived at the complex peacefully, stating they did not intend to protest or cause disruption. Their sole demand was to speak to the investigators handling the school jobs recruitment scam and request access to the mirror images of their OMR sheets, which they believe would prove their eligibility.
However, Bidhannagar Police had already deployed a heavy force near the CGO Complex, anticipating unrest. The teachers were blocked at the gate and later evicted from the premises. Police maintained that no prior appointment or permission had been sought, and the gathering was a violation of security norms around the CBI-controlled area.
Following the incident, several teachers expressed frustration, alleging that they are being denied justice. “We didn’t shout slogans or carry banners. We came with our ID cards and appointment letters only to seek a conversation. Still, we were treated like criminals,” said one of the former teachers present.
The police, on the other hand, said the action was taken as a precautionary measure. “The CGO Complex is a high-security zone. Any group trying to enter without clearance poses a threat to the protocol,” an officer said. As of now, a significant police presence continues at the CGO Complex gate to avoid further attempts at entry. The terminated teachers, meanwhile, have vowed to continue their fight through legal means and peaceful representation.
